Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a official communication.
Law enforcement state they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued substance.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Police then located many other marked vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police state initial examinations show the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; authorities are currently not aware of any harm in association with the event," they added.
Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have asked to the community for details.
A senior political figure said the attack left him speechless and had to be solved rapidly.
"This incident affects the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right attack half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, mentioning the death of nine victims by a gunman focusing on residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
